Former UW-L provost named interim president at Utah university

.
OREM, Utah — The Utah board of regents appointed Elizabeth Hitch as the interim president of Utah Valley University on Thursday.

Before going to UVU, Hitch was provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs and a professor at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. She also served eight months as interim chancellor. Hitch has been at UVU since July 1, 2007.
Hitch, who is UVU’s current vice president of academic affairs, will take the place of the current president, William Sederburg.

Sederburg was named the state commissioner of higher education last week and will leave the university in August. Hitch will assume his duties, his office and his salary at that time.

“Liz is wonderful. She’ll do magnificently in the role. She’s already been an interim president once,” said UVU Vice President Val Hale.

Hitch said she is not planning on assuming the job permanently.

“I’m not a candidate for the position. My heart is in academic affairs,” she said.

" These Administrators and educators put their tail-hooks down and grab benefits as they skim the deck. It is called 'gaming the system'. As they gather future benefits for themselves and their future. If you check carefully they 'spike' their pay in those last years for the benefits, as it helps their amounts greatly that they will receive. Self serving and shameful, and you are not supposed to look into their world or scrutinize it. Ask Bluestate? "
