Ada Mills Donner, 88, of La Crosse recently gave $100,000 to the village to be used for the construction of its new multipurpose facility.
The village, which has a population of about 40 and is located 20 miles north of Portage, elected to name the new building the “Ada Mills Donner & Melvin R. Donner Civic Center” after Donner and her late husband.
“My family was very involved in developing the village, so this gift is in honor of them,” Donner said.
Groundbreaking for the new facility, which will house the village hall, library, police department and community/senior center, took place Sunday. The facility will be located between the Endeavor Lions Club Park and the Endeavor Elementary School. The project is estimated to cost $785,000.
“The people of Endeavor badly needed somewhere to socialize,” Donner said. “I hope everyone in the village utilizes this facility at some point.”
