We Say: Jared Heintz, assistant sports editor, on Brett Favre.

.
Brett Favre’s desire to return to football has to be about the money. He apparently can’t afford his own cell phone to broker possible trades out of Green Bay.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Bob McGinn reported that a source said Favre used a Packers-issued cell phone after his retirement, and upon checking the phone records the team found “repeated calls to (Minnesota Vikings) coach Brad Childress and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell.”
When the Packers filed tampering charges against the Vikings last week, it seemed hard to believe Green Bay could prove “inappropriate dialogue” between Favre and Bevell considering the two are good friends.

But since Favre used the Packers’ call plan to chat with Childress, it seems more likely the Vikings could lose draft picks and any chance they had at trading for the Packers legend.

Green Bay was already in a no-win situation with Favre. It’s nice to see Brett making this saga as difficult as possible for other teams as well.

" Best check you stats...425 wins, LOL!

But I agree, TT is going to go down as the dumbest GM ever, and lose his job next year.

Period! "

" After the way TT treated Brett, I don't blame Brett 1 bit for reaching out. It is a slap in your face to say We want you back BUT we are going to start our 3 year veteran with NO STARTS or WINS rather than YOU who own the NFL ALL-TIME RECORDS for BOTH! 275 STRAIGHT STARTS for QB and over 425 WINS! If Brett is washed up, why did he win award for NFL player of the year last season and 13 regular season wins? "
