Published - Wednesday, July 23, 2008 One arrested in slaying of Madison man MADISON (AP) — One man has been arrested in Chicago and another is being sought in the fatal shooting of a Madison man during an attempted robbery. A 19-year-old suspect was arrested Monday in the slaying of Marcus Hamilton on Madison's west side June 29. Authorities said two men confronted Hamilton at his home along with at least three of his children and forced him into an upstairs bedroom. The intruders demanded money and one of them shot Hamilton. Madison police spokesman Joel DeSpain said the person in custody is believed to be the trigger man while the man still at large apparently was the lookout. The children ran out of the home and weren't harmed. DeSpain said citizen cooperation helped detectives identify the two suspects.
