New building to be named after La Crosse donor

ENDEAVOR, Wis. — The village of Endeavor’s new multi-purpose facility will bear the name of a generous donor.

Ada Mills Donner, 88, of La Crosse recently gave the village $100,000 for the building.

Officials in the village, which has a population of about 40 and is 20 miles north of Portage, Wis., elected to name the new building the “Ada Mills Donner & Melvin R. Donner Civic Center,” after Donner and her late husband.

“My family was very involved in developing the village, so this gift is in honor of them,” Donner said.

The village broke ground Sunday on the new facility, which will house the Village Hall, library, police department and community/senior center. Estimated cost of the project is $785,000.

“The people of Endeavor badly needed somewhere to socialize,” Donner said.
