Two men arrested for robbing Milwaukee ice cream man

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee police said citizens helped them catch two men who robbed an ice cream man of $30 and a handful of Popsicles.

Police said the 18- and 20-year-old men robbed the 51-year-old pushcart vendor about 6:40 p.m. Wednesday. They implied they had a weapon, took the money and flavored ice and fled.

Police said witnesses gave them descriptions that allowed them to arrest one man shortly after the robbery. The second suspect was picked up later.

Citizens have helped in two other cases this week as well, police said. Citizens Monday flagged down a squad car and helped police arrest three teens who had robbed a 37-year-old man.

Capt. Anthony Smith said citizen information also led to Tuesday's arrest of three men in a burglary case.
