I made a number of phone calls regarding the notice to the weed commissioner, mayor, my council member, engineering department and park department and they all passed the problem onto some other department or said they “would make some calls to check on it.”
The city’s contractor planted the seed on the boulevard, which came up mostly weeds, The only time I received a straight answer was when I happened upon a La Crosse engineer looking at the boulevards.
With tight budgets, the city finds money for roundabouts, welcome signs, weed commissioners and many other wasteful things. When budget time rolls around the first things mentioned to cut are street, fire and police.
La Crosse’s mayor should look under his own roof first. Someone needs to look at the serious lack of fiscal responsibility by the city. And, by the way, what does the weed commissioner do during the winter?
