Ashley Marie McCoy, 17, was reported unconscious about noon Friday, according to Becker County (Minn.) Sheriff Tim Gordon. Authorities determined she died while asleep in her tent at the music festival site.
No foul play is suspected, but Gordon said the investigation will remain open pending toxicology reports.
McCoy was traveling with Andrew Loomis, 22, of La Crosse.
She is a 2008 graduate of West Salem High School and planned to attend Viterbo University to study nursing, according to her paid obituary in the Tribune. She worked at Bethany-Riverside Nursing Facility in La Crosse as a Certified Nursing Assistant and loved animals and flowers.
Ian Arvid Mortensen, 24, a co-owner of Bluffland Bloom & Brew in downtown La Crosse, died while attending the music festival on July 20, 2007.
His was the second death at last year’s festival.
