For those unable to eat a complete organic diet and to save money, not all foods need to be purchased organically, such as asparagus, avocados, bananas, broccoli, onions, and sweet peas. Others like apples, bell peppers, celery, berries, potatoes and spinach should be organic due to the quantity of sprays used.
Some other ways to save money and still eat healthily are to shop at the various farmers markets throughout the week. Local foods are generally cheaper, fresher and more nutritious. Growing your own is another great option, easier to do than you think, and will save you lots of money. (Check out www.gardenswebsite.com.)
We are exposed to more than 200 carcinogenic chemicals per day from our food, water, cosmetic and cleaning supplies, work environment, air, etc. Our food choices are the most important for our overall health and the easiest to improve. Going organic can be quite simple and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg if done correctly.
