The man’s name was not released pending notification of family.
Jackson County Sheriff’s Department received a call concerning a missing canoeist just before 9 p.m. Wednesday.
The caller said a father and his two adult daughters had gone on a canoe trip on the Black River. The trip was planned to take two hours and conclude about 5 p.m. at Mason’s Landing. At the time of the call, the two daughters were accounted for, but their father was missing. The man’s body was found about 4 a.m.
This incident remains under investigation.
