Your Aug. 5 editorial was great, but it stopped short too soon. Politicians, and all government officials should be held accountable for their actions whenever they violate the laws or fail to follow the terms of their oath of office.
Unfortunately, during the past seven years there have been many instances where government officials have done just that, both Republican and Democrat, and they have not been held accountable, largely because Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi has ruled that impeachment is off the table.
To answer your question of Aug. 6 as to why can’t sensible policies get someone elected president, we need only watch the trash that appears almost daily on national TV news programs on just about every network where the attempt seems to be to try to dumb down the opinions of the public.
The “talking heads” on TV are more interested in really unimportant things than in sensible policies. When do the talking heads ask about real issues? Certainly not on their nightly so-called news programs.
Thanks for your recent excellent editorials. Keep up the good work.
