Kenneth A. Cooper
SPARTA, Wis. — Kenneth A. Cooper, 58, of Sparta died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, in his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta. Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday to services, both at the funeral home. Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jean M. Hengel

Jean M. Hengel, 73, of La Crosse passed away Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at Hillview Healthcare Center, La Crosse. She was born in La Crosse on April 2, 1935, to Edward and Olga (Bakken) Hilmoe. She married Raymond Hengel at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in La Crosse on July 14, 1956.

In addition to her husband, Ray of La Crosse, she is survived by four daughters, Susan (Dennis) George, Judy Hengel, Nancy (Jim) Keller, all of La Crosse, and Teresa (Blaine) Raymer of Woodbury, Minn.; one son, Jeffrey Hengel of San Antonio, Texas; eight grandchildren, Sarah, Liz, Mary, Evan, Nate, Shawn, Jon and Matt; and and one sister, Jeri (Gordy) Johnson of Westby, Wis.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by one son, Mark; and one granddaughter, Taryn.

Jean was a nurturing mother, a devoted wife and a true friend. She taught us life by example.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mary Mother of the Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in La Crosse. The Rev. Douglas Robertson will officiate. Entombment will follow in St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum in Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends may call on the family from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse, and again from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be donated in Jean’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association and Mary Mother of the Church Parish. STODDARD, Wis. — Bernice M. Larson, 94, of Stoddard died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at Northland Nursing Home, Westby, Wis. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse.

TOMAH/CAMP DOUGLAS, Wis. — Larry Mills, 58, of Tomah/Camp Douglas died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at his home. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4 to

8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. to services Thursday, both at the funeral home.

Debora Springer

TOMAH, Wis. — A memorial gathering for Debora Springer, 52, of Tomah will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Krieger residence, Oakdale, Wis. For directions: (608) 269-7537. Family and friends may attend. A lunch will follow. Debora died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at her home.
