The worst part comes first, a four-game series against the Los Angeles Angels, owners of the best record in baseball, then it’s lowly Seattle followed by Oakland and Toronto.
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire’s standard joke when asked about the long road trip — which had to be scheduled because of the Republican National Convention’s visit to the Twin Cities next month — has been: “More meal money.”
But playoff money is nicer.
If Minnesota returns home on Sept. 5 still tied or within 1-2 games of the White Sox, Gardenhire and Twins fans will really be able to smile.
