What’s new: Duresky amended his motion Monday to use $2.56 million of the district’s fund balance after administration outlined a plan that addressed the safety and security needs but excluded entrance office revisions. The motion garnered some support, but failed. Superintendent Jerry Kember said if the measure passed, it would have cost the district more than $94,000 annually in lost interest. “Unfortunately that is not a one-time cost,” Kember said. “Every year that (money) is not in the fund balance, we have to reduce our operating budget by $94,000 somewhere.”
What’s next: Board members will continue to look at safety and security needs. Potentially tapping into the fund balance will again be discussed at a special board meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at the Hogan Administrative Center, 807 East Ave. S.
