May 14, 2003

The director since January of the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse has resigned to go home.
Mary Margaret "Margo" Lynch resigned from the shrine's top administrative post Tuesday, according to a news release from the Diocese of La Crosse.

The brief statement cited Lynch's resignation as being for "personal reasons in order to return to her home state of Texas." No details were given.

Lynch, who took over as director Jan. 6, previously worked as a professor at Blinn College in Bryan, Texas. Her husband, Michael, also a professor at Blinn, remained in his position and was to join her at the end of the school year, Lynch had said earlier.

While the shrine's board of directors conducts a search for a successor, Andrew Brannon, the shrine's financial manager, will assume administrative duties, the news release said.

The shrine is located at 5250 Justin Road, off Hwy. 14/61, southeast of downtown La Crosse.
