State law bars the addresses of petitioners for domestic violence injunctions from being posted on the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access site, commonly referred to as CCAP. Petitioners' names can be posted, however.
Federal law, however, prohibits any information about domestic violence petitioners from being published online. The CCAP steering committee voted unanimously today to abide by that law and stop publishing the names.
State courts spokesman Tom Sheehan said petitioners' names will be removed from cases already posted as well. He didn't have a date for when the work would be completed.
Respondents' names still would be published online.
