David W. Crawford
David W. Crawford, 56, of La Crosse answered the call to join his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
He was born in La Crosse on Sept. 3, 1951, to Jeanine Halverson. David graduated from Logan High School in 1969. He married Cheryl Nagle in La Crosse in 1970 and then worked for La Crosse Footwear from 1970 until the plant’s closing.
In addition to his wife, Cheryl, he is survived by one daughter, Rachel Crawford of La Crosse; his mother, Jeanine Hardie of West Salem, Wis.; his mother-in-law, Elrose Nagle; three sisters, Diane Dunlap, Cindy (Greg) Ashland and Jamie Hardie, all of West Salem; one brother, Donnie (Mary) Hardie of West Salem; his uncles, Vernon (Phylis) Halverson and Fran Murphy; his sisters-in-law, Kathy Crawford, Pat (Ger) Christianson, Donna (Floyd) Johnson, Barb (Steve) Hoff, Debbie (Dean) Seidel, Janet (Jeff) Bahr and Kerri Nagle; three brothers-in-law, Randy (Jeanette) Nagle, Jim (DeeDee) Nagle and Scott Nagle; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his father James Hardie, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Crawford; his grandparents, Ken and Mabel Hardie, Otto and Stella Grimslid; and his father-in-law, Ed Nagle.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse. Dick Bruley and Cal Erickson will be officiating the services. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will donated in David’s name. SPARTA, Wis. — Ilah G. Gabriel, 87, of Sparta and formerly of Northfield, Wis., died Wednesday at the home of her daughter near Sparta. Daniel ‘Dan’ C. Robinson
MONONA, Wis. — Daniel “Dan” C. Robinson, 12, passed away surrounded by his loving family and friends on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, after a lengthy illness.
He was born on July 9, 1996, in La Crosse, to Kirk and Roxanne (Miller) Robinson. Dan just completed fifth grade, home schooling. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Dan loved building Lego’s, watching movies with family and friends, reading, watching plays and musicals, going on field trips to zoos and museums, and playing with his little sister, Megan.
He is survived by his parents; sister; maternal grandparents, Phyllis Miller, and John (Alice) Miller; paternal grandparents, the Rev. E. Lamar and Elaine Robinson; maternal great-grandmother, Edna Miller; paternal great-grandmother, Alice Robinson; two uncles, Kevin (Katherine) Miller and Matthew (Shelby) Robinson; and three cousins, Samuel and Matthew Miller, and Bella Robinson.
Dan was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Palmer and Palma Lillevold, and Herb Miller; paternal great-grandparents, Edgar Robinson, and Roger and Ellen McNamera; and an aunt, Amy Robinson.
A memorial service will be held at Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5202 Cottage Grove Road, Madison, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, with the Rev. Jeff Vanden Heuvel presiding. Christopher Lee Taylor
LEESBURG, Fla. — Christopher “Chris” Lee Taylor, 64, of Leesburg and formerly of Galesville, Wis., and La Crosse died on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, in Orlando, Fla., of complications from cancer reoccurrence.
He was born on March 12, 1944, to William S. and Elizabeth M. Taylor in Superior, Wis.
Chris spent most of his youth in Galesville, but graduated from La Crosse Central in 1962. He attended Waldorf College and University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, graduating from the latter in 1968. After graduation he lived in Milwaukee, working for the Boy Scouts and then as an insurance agent for Sons of Norway. Chris moved to Slidell, La., in 1978 where he was an independent insurance agent for many years. He survived lung cancer in 2004. With his home damaged by Katrina, he moved to Leesburg, Fla., in 2005.
Christopher is survived by his brother, Carson (Gudrun) Taylor of Portland, Ore.; his sister, Carola (Rick) Jobst of Marion, Wis.; five nieces and nephews; nine grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and many cousins.
Chris was a good athlete and enjoying golf in his adult years. He was a member of the state tournament basketball teams of Gale-Ettrick in 1960 and La Crosse Central in 1962. In Louisiana, he frequently went deep-sea fishing.
Chris had an outgoing personality and leaves many friends in Wisconsin, Louisiana and Florida. His family and friends will sadly miss him. Chris will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his easy-going nature. He was an instant friend to anyone who met him.

Flossie Mae Wistenberg
VIROQUA, Wis. — Flossie Mae Wistenberg, 94, of Viroqua died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at Vernon Manor Nursing Home in Viroqua.
She was born on Jan. 25, 1914, in Ontario, Wis., to Jessie and Bessie (Haskell) Cornell. She married Adolph Wistenberg on March 20, 1932. They farmed in the Viroqua area until 1947 and then moved into Viroqua. Flossie and Adolph had two children, Janet Wistenberg Nedrelo and Phil Wistenberg. Flossie cleaned at the Viroqua Telephone Company for many years. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Flossie is survived by her son, Phil (Pat) Wistenberg of Green Bay, Wis.; six grandchildren, Daniel Nedrelo, Lynn (Michael) McIntosh, Vicky (Tom) Holschuh, Jay (Ginger) Wistenberg, Jon Wistenberg and Amy (Bill) Harris; seven great-grandchildren, Emilee Holschuh, Spencer Holschuh, Alexa Wistenberg, Cole Wistenberg, Mason Wistenberg, Hunter Harris and Tess Harris; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Adolph in 1962; daughter, Janet Rae Nedrelo in 2000, and Janet’s husband, LaVerne in 1962; sister, Anna Downing; and three brothers, Ray Cornell, Lee Cornell and Charles Cornell.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker St. (Hwy. 56 W.), Viroqua. The Rev. Margaret Eiben Hoversten will officiate. Burial will be in Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
