La Crosse, the presence of too many billboards detracts and distracts at city entrances. The presence of billboards detracts from the initial beauty. The billboard in front of a gorgeous bluff was distracting. It spoils the view and is an eyesore.
There are lots of billboards on I-90. Proliferation of billboards marred the experience from the powerful beauty of the bluffs (Hwy. 16).
In downtown La Crosse, there is a huge red Coca-Cola billboard on the side of a five-story historic building. That’s out of place. All the billboards should go away from downtown La Crosse.
These are some of the comments from “the first impressions report” in a program for community assessment and improvement.
Will this be just another 31-page report placed on the shelf? Or will those who can make improvements (private and political) to La Crosse move this report forward?
And hopefully the La Crosse Tribune will think this is a “newsworthy story.”
