Owner Cathy Bolling surrendered the dog, named Big Boy, that has been quarantined at the Coulee Region Humane Society since the attacks, said County Health Department Vector Control Manager Dave Geske.

“This animal posed a threat to other people and her family,” he said. “I think she believes other people can get hurt.”
The dog will be euthanized Thursday at the Humane Society at the end of a 10-day quarantine the state requires after an animal bites a human.
Officials determined the 2-year-old black-and-white dog jumped the thin wire fence behind 815 S. Seventh St. about 9:15 a.m. Aug. 18 and made unprovoked attacks on Dale Proksch and Carmon Jostad while they were working in the alley, Geske said.
“You couldn’t make the case it couldn’t happen again,” he said.
Both Proksch, of Holmen, and Jostad, of Coon Valley, were treated for several bite wounds at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center.
Geske said he would have sought a judicial order to euthanize the dog had Bolling not surrendered him.
