Update: Charter strikes deal with Big 10 Network

.
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Charter Communications and the Big Ten Network said today they've reached a distribution agreement.

The multiyear deal allows the St. Louis-based cable company to carry the network's programming throughout Big Ten territory, including systems in Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Northern Illinois.
Charter spokesman John Miller says the network will be included in Charter's expanded basic level of service for the upcoming Big Ten sports season.

After that, Miller says the company will re-evaluate the best place for the channel.

It's uncertain whether the agreement will be completed in time for Charter to carry Saturday's telecast of Wisconsin's football opener against Akron at Camp Randall. Kickoff is at 11 a.m.

" YAWN. . .

Text me when they have the Playboy Channel on the basic tier. . .

Or, start carrying all five Wisconsin PBS channels. . .

Yes, I have a wide range of interests, not including "Sports". "

" Why does Charter keep sending about three junk mails a week to everybody? Talk about bad for the environment. "

" It's about time. Charter has 19 shopping channels, but no Big 10 Network or NFL Network. For those of you complaining about your rates going up, dig in your couch cushions or cancel your subscription. I need my football! "

" Great, now my rates will increase so we can watch one Badger game per year and then reruns of womens la crosse games the rest of the year.
Yippee! "

" Gee Charter, way to strike a deal after you are the last cable company in the Big Ten area no too! Pressured much???? Who cares - I switched to Dish a long time ago. Cheaper and hands down MUCH better customer service! "

" Who cares about that; what about the NFL Network? "

" About time. One down, one to go. Now strike a deal with the NFL Network and people will quit leaving you for another cable company!!! "
