Papa John’s looking for new La Crosse franchisee

.
The Papa John’s pizza chain is looking for a new franchisee to reopen the location that closed Sunday at 1200 La Crosse St., a corporate spokesman said today.

“The franchisee elected to close the store due to being unable to generate enough sales to run his business,” said Chris Sternberg, spokesman for Papa John’s International Inc. in Louisville, Ky. He declined to name the franchisee.
“We’re actively seeking a new owner-operator for that location and hope to reopen that store in the near future,” Sternberg said.

The pizza restaurant opened in 1998 in a former Taco Bell.

Papa John’s has about 2,600 restaurants in the United States and another 500 in other countries.

" Well, the fact of the matter is that the road construction is putting businesses out of business. Quillin's had to close because sales were down 30% since construction started and because of the way the intersection is going to be configured (West Ave and Pine St), north bound traffic on West Ave won't be able to turn left into Quillin's. Who's going to shop there if they have to take some round about way to get in the parking lot?

I wouldn't be surprised if Taco Bell and Taco John's close. "

" I would like to thank all of our customers for the years of business! It was a very difficult decision to close this location! Unfortunately economic times made the decision for us!
once again!
Thank You "

" Yes, Pizza Coral gets my vote as well. I never had Papa John's pizza because I couldn't get to it. Talk about a cruddy location. Once you do get in, where do you park? Seems like it would be a long wait getting out as well with traffic. "

" I have to agree about Pizza Corral. Even with living on the south side it's always worth driving to Holmen. "

" You can't compare Happy Joe's to Papa John's! Happy Joe's has some of the best pizza around. Papa John's is better than the other big box pizza places, but not even close to the smaller chains or local joints. The best pizza in the Coulee Region is Pizza Corral, hands down! "

" We were surprised to find them closed- no delivery to Onalaska meant a drive to get it, but always worth the trouble. I also have to disagree about the price... we ended up with a $27 pizza from Dominoes instead. And not nearly as good. We'll make it at home instead next time. Papa Johns - please relocate to Onalaska! No competition from Little Sleazers here :) "

" Sad! I loved their pizza.

PicklesPlease I would have to disagree, they were not the most expensive. Have you ever ordered from Happy Joe's? It's $30 for a large taco pizza!

Papa John's will be missed! "
