William Andrew Beller
CAMP DOUGLAS — William Andrew Beller, 51, of Camp Douglas died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at Tomah Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be at 8 p.m. Saturday at Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, Tomah. Relatives and friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given in Bill’s memory to a charity of your choice.

Naomi Ruth Gille

TREMPEALEAU — Naomi Ruth Gille, 81, of Washington and formerly of the Trempealeau area, died peacefully surrounded by her family Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, in Washington.

She was born April 4, 1927, in Bristol, England, to William and Emily (Pigeon) Lee. On Feb. 28, 1945, she married Frank Gille. She left her family and home in England to join Frank in America. Now she has left her family to join him once again.

Ruth lived many years on the farm in the Fountain City, Wis., area. The couple moved to Trempealeau in 1967 and became charter members of Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Galesville. Later in life, she enjoyed working for the wildlife refuge in Trempealeau.

Survivors are four daughters, Elizabeth (Bruce) Bennett of Brazoria, Texas, Judith (Charles) Wamsley of Bangor, Caroline (Thomas) Gruenwald of Adams, Wis., and Theresa (Stephen) Furlan of Edgewood, Wash.; two sons, Paul (Susan) Gille and Christopher (Tammy) Gile, both of Wichita Falls, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Smith of England; and her special friends from Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, of 53 years; an infant daughter; and a granddaughter, Lisa Marie Bennett.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m. in Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Galesville, with the Rev. Nathan Strutz officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Fountain City Public Cemetery, Fountain City. Friends may call at the church Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. Zwickey Funeral Homes, Galesville Chapel, is assisting the family.

Shirley J. (Krews) Huebner

Shirley J. (Krews) Huebner, 60, of La Crosse died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, in Milwaukee. Krause Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 7001 W. Brown Deer, Milwaukee, is assisting the family.

Louisa R. Johnson

CATARACT — Louisa R. Johnson, 87, of rural Cataract died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, in her home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta. Burial will be in Cataract Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Clement C. Mezera

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN — Clement C. Mezera, 87, of rural Prairie du Chien died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at Prairie Maison Care Center, Prairie du Chien. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Catholic Church, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Garrity Funeral Home, Prairie du Chien, with a 7:30 p.m. rosary. Roger L. Nelson

Roger L. Nelson, 67, of La Crosse died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008. Graveside services with military honors will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday in French Island Cemetery. Dickinson Family Funeral Home and Crematory, La Crosse, is assisting the family.

Sonia (Urbick) Raab

OXFORD, Wis. — Sonia (Urbick) Raab, 53, of Oxford passed away Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, in the comfort of her own home with her family by her side following a courageous battle with cancer.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m. at Oxford Funeral Home in Oxford, with Pastor Mike Gormican officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.

Sonia was born in Arcadia, the daughter of Lambert and Clarice (Bjorge) Urbick. She graduated from Arcadia High School in 1973. On Feb. 22, 1975, Sonia was united in marriage to Richard Raab. Sonia loved sewing for her daughters and traveling, and she is now on her new eternal life adventures.

Sonia is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, Richard “Dick;” and daughters, Crystal (Joshua) Thays of Madison and Jennifer Raab of Oxford; sisters, Joyce Moe and Betty Jane Knutson, both of Arcadia, and Sharon (Bob) Byrne of Trempealeau; brothers, Larry (Jan) Urbick of Menomonee Falls, Wis., Roger Urbick of Whitehall, and Lambert “Herbie” (Sally) Urbick of Trempealeau; granddaughter, Roz Thays; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents; brother-in-law, Howard Knutson; and a nephew, Robert Byrne.

Lois M. Riepel

Lois M. Riepel, 74, of La Crosse died Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.

She was born July 12, 1934, in La Crosse to Rudolph and Julia (Larson) Riepel. She spent her early life in Milwaukee. When her father died, her family moved to La Crosse. Lois graduated from Aquinas High School in 1952. She worked for Art Soell Sr. as manager of Soell’s Wines and Liquor for 42 years.

She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Walter Pitz of La Crosse, and her beloved dog “Hunter.” She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Kenneth Riepel; and a nephew, Mike Pitz.

At Lois’ request, there will be no services. Memorials may be directed to Lois’ favorite charities, Coulee Region Humane Society, Gundersen Lutheran Foundation or the Mike Pitz Memorial Fund at Aquinas High School.

H. Irene Ross

H. Irene Ross, 94, of La Crosse passed away in an early morning hour of Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at Hillview Health Care Center, La Crosse.

She was born Feb. 21, 1914, to Marion and Mabel (Cox) Gilman in De Soto.

Irene married Walter Ross on Aug. 15, 1939, and he preceded her in death July 23, 1979.

She enjoyed her church friends and church work well into her 80s. She loved gardening at the ranch and family outings with family musicians.

Irene is survived by three children, Arden (Penny) Ross of Onalaska, Gloria (Ted) Theriault of Searchlight, Nev., and Jerold (Nancy) Ross of Appleton, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Lisa Besman, Aaron Ross, Barbara Hull, Dawn Hake, Kevin Budnik, Brian Ross, Julie Veldt and Stephen Ross; and three sisters, La Verne Brudos of Viroqua, Lucille (Thomas) Dagnon of La Crosse, and Elaine (Kenneth) Elliot of Stoddard.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Marion; an infant son; a grandson, Andrew Ross; sisters, Blanche Hammond, Ferne Inman and Anita Reynolds; and brothers, Cleo, Keith, Carlyle, Rolland, Emerald and Marlin.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 721 King St. La Crosse. The Rev. Don Iliff will officiate, and burial will be in Walnut Mound Cemetery, town of Sterling in Vernon County. Family and friends may call Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 1425 Jackson St., La Crosse, on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. and again at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Ruth A. Schultz

LANSING, Iowa — Ruth A. Schultz, 87, of Lansing died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at Thornton Manor in Lansing.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at United Methodist Church in Lansing, with burial in Oakland Cemetery in Waukon, Iowa. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Richard of Lansing; two children, Ron of Lansing and Pam Seidel of La Crosse; two grandchildren, Kevin Schultz and James Seidel; three great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Ashley and Jacob; and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by one son in infancy; one brother, Jacob Iseli; two sisters, Katherine Iseli and Esther Johnson; and five stepbrothers Fred, Theodore, Henry, Adolph and Floyd Iseli.
