Bangor and Melrose-Mindoro will meet in Bangor tonight to signify the official beginning of the Coulee Region football season. Over the course of the weekend, several names other than those we’ve already told you about will likely surface. And so begins the tracking and documenting of a new season.
Can Tomah running back Joel Sweeney build on last season’s 16 touchdown runs and average of 138 yards per game on Friday against a young G-E-T team that already has opposing coaches talking about its potential? Will Aquinas, West Salem and Caledonia follow last year’s state titles with opening-night victories on the road? Brookwood and De Soto should be two of the top small-school teams in the area. Who will come out on top when they meet Friday night in Ontario?
Every question you can come up with will be answered eventually, but this is where it all begins.
