According to Miami radio station 790 and ESPN. com, Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Johnson legally changed his name to Ocho Cinco on Friday. The media would have to refer to him as Chad Ocho Cinco from now on, and he’d be able to put the name on the back of his jersey without being punished by the NFL.

My first reaction to this was: What an idiot!
But, the more I thought about it, I just had to laugh. It’s not like he’s hurting anyone (except perhaps for others in the Johnson family), it’s something fun for his fans and a way to draw more interest to the Bengals and the NFL. Not like they were hurting for fans, but still.

The only way that this could really end poorly for him would be if he got traded to the Detroit Lions or St. Louis Rams. The number 85 is retired for both those franchises.
