Published - Sunday, August 31, 2008 Pets of the Week for Aug. 31, 2008 Reuben is an Abyssinian Guinea Pig. He usually has gorgeous long hair, but we gave him a “summer cut” to remove the matts from his overgrown hair. He is adjusting to the socialization techniques used by the animal caregivers and volunteers here at the shelter, and he would make a great companion for an experienced Guinea owner. Reuben will do well with regular jaunts out of his cage, a lot of high vitamin C greens and a lot of love thrown in. Skinnie Minnie, a 1 year old, spayed female, pastel calico cat is the best of both worlds. She loves to play, and she loves to cuddle. Skinnie came to us off the streets at just 6½ pounds. She is now more of just “Minnie” rather than too “Skinny,” and she is looking for a home that can provide her with exercise, cuddle time and even another cat to keep her company. She is living in a staff member’s office with two other cats and doesn’t mind sharing the attention. She is a gorgeous cat who loves to stretch out for a belly rub. For more information about Reuben, Skinnie Minnie or any of the other animals at the Coulee Region Humane Society, call (608) 781-4014 or stop by from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, or from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
