WEST SALEM, Wis. — Leland O. Alseth, 93, of West Salem died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at Mulder Health Care Facility, West Salem. Memorial services will be announced by Jostad-Jandt Funeral Home, West Salem.

David ‘Dave’ M. Dotz

BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. — David “Dave” M. Dotz, 39, of Black River Falls died unexpectedly on Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, in his home. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls. Family and friends are invited for visitation from noon Wednesday to services at the funeral home.

Jerold ‘Jerry’ D. Helgerson

CHASEBURG/COON VALLEY, Wis. — Jerold “Jerry” D. Helgerson, 74, of Chaseburg died Saturday Aug. 30, 2008, at Onalaska Care Center, Onalaska, Wis. He was born April 22, 1934, to William and Beulah (Holey) Helgerson in Coon Valley. He attended school in Coon Valley. In his earlier years, Jerold was a traveling carnival worker for several years before working at Admiral Television in Harvard, Ill. He then worked for La Crosse Footwear (Rubber Mills) in La Crosse for over 27 years. Jerold enjoyed horses and cats, especially his pet cat, Babies. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.

Survivors include two sisters, Bernice (Joe) Fink of Oshkosh, Wis., and Sandra Aronen (Joyce Pelzer) of Cottonwood, Minn.; one brother, Eldon (Karen) Helgerson of Holmen, Wis.; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Coon Valley Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mitzi Miyamoto will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and from 10 a.m. Wednesday to services at the church. Memorials may be given to Vernon County Humane Society.

Richard J. Nolop

Richard J. Nolop, 73, of rural La Crosse died at his home Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse.

Viola ‘Vi’ M. Tanke

Viola “Vi” M. Tanke, 89, of La Crosse died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Rehab Center, La Crosse. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, La Crosse. Entombment will be at Garden Mausoleum in Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends may call from 10 a.m. Wednesday to Mass at the church. Woodruff-Jandt Funeral Home, La Crosse, is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will follow.

ONALASKA, Wis. — Ruth E. Vodde, 65, of Onalaska died at her home Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse.
