Published - Tuesday, September 02, 2008 Not just any woman I was a supporter of Hillary Clinton for as long as it was possible to vote for her, and I am proud of that. However, it was a difficult decision regarding the quality of the two final Democratic candidates n Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. I must also clarify that I have not traditionally been a straight Democratic party ticket voter; especially in western Wisconsin, where we have had such quality candidates like Brian Rude and Steve Gunderson as former Republican choices. That said, I am very insulted that the McCain decision to select a female running mate can assume that my vote will transfer from Hillary and all of her qualifications to another, simply because she is another woman. I do not mean to diminish the qualities of McCain’s pick for running mate, but the choice of Hillary Clinton went far beyond the fact that she was female, and if you look at the credentials for the two female candidates, I need say no more. Hillary Clinton’s abilities and expertise are definitely presidential. I believe John McCain has insulted the intellect of female Hillary supporters by assuming that another female candidate can take her vote.
