Intersections are dangerous for kids

I have become very concerned for the safety of students in the La Crosse area, my own children included. It concerns me that the city feels the need to make cuts on safety guards at certain intersections. If the guard at Losey and Mormon Coulee is eliminated there will not be one crossing guard available for the students at Hintgen Elementary.

These intersections are dangerous for any person, especially young children. Before making these changes, the city should have talked to parents of students and the bus companies. Is the city aware that bus service is not offered for children that live within a two-mile radius of the schools? Most parents do work full days and look for a safe way for their children to arrive home. No bus service? No crossing guards? What cuts will be next?
