News tracker: Binsfeld trial date set
What we knew: Walter C. Binsfeld, 42, of 714 Jackson St., accused of shooting his wife at the couple’s home July 20, 2007, had his June trial delayed for psychological testing. Binsfeld has pleaded not guilty and not guilty by mental disease or defect to attempted first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, intimidation of a victim, felony aggravated battery and four counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
What’s new: La Crosse County Circuit Judge Todd Bjerke scheduled Binsfeld’s trial to start with jury selection Feb. 23.
What’s next: A final pre-trial conference will be 9 a.m. Feb. 13.
