Published - Thursday, September 04, 2008 We Say: Joel Badzinski, Tribune sportswriter, on trends in football I have a sports prediction. By 2011, every organized football team on the planet will be running the spread offense. It’s not just the offense du jour, its the offense du decade, and quite frankly, I’m getting tired of it. Also, I’m still getting over having my heart broken by my alma mater, UW-River Falls, which abandoned the wishbone two years ago. I don’t have anything against passing in general. I enjoy a well-executed throw-and-catch as much as the next football fan. But if I spend an afternoon watching college football on TV, I’d like to see a fullback dive or quarterback option once in a while, just for old times’ sake. Is that too much to ask?
