Citizen Action of Wisconsin said the group, along with local residents, turned in more than enough signatures in all three communities to put the referendum on the Nov. 4 ballots.
The referendum reads: “Shall the state Legislature enact health care reform legislation by Dec. 31, 2009, that guarantees to every Wisconsin resident affordable coverage as good as what is provided to state legislators?”
Health care referendums already are on the November ballot in La Crosse County and Viroqua, and are in process many other communities.
Under state law, an advisory referendum can be put on the ballot when a sufficient number of voters in a city or village sign petitions.
The threshold is 15 percent of the voters in the past gubernatorial election.
A smaller number of local health care referendums were on the ballot in 2006 in many areas of the state, including Jackson and La Crosse counties.
