Doyle spokesman Lee Sensenbrenner said the governor has called a news conference this morning to announce the pick. Sensenbrenner declined to say who it was.
Jack Fischer resigned as commerce secretary in July after the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Fischer and a top aide billed taxpayers more than $21,000 for three international trips in less than three months this past spring.
The Journal Sentinel reported several weeks after Fischer's resignation that he billed taxpayers more than $500 to take limousines while he attended meetings in the Twin Cities.
