Daily TV grids will expand
We’ve had a few phone calls at the Tribune this week from people wanting to talk about TV listings.
OK, it was more than a few. And all had a similar message: We like our TV listings, so please bring them back.
The listings didn’t go away entirely when we discontinued our weekly Prime Time section. Instead of publishing a full week of the large TV grids on Saturday, we’re now publishing a grid every day. Doing so saves newspaper pages, and such cost savings are a good thing in these challenging economic times.
But the TV grid we’ve been publishing this week isn’t inclusive enough to satisfy many of our readers. So we’re going to expand the daily TV listings, starting by late next week.
Once the changes are in place, we’ll have a daily TV grid that includes listings from noon through 10:30 p.m. and includes all or nearly all channels that used to be listed in Prime Time.
We know even the expanded grid won’t satisfy everyone. But we hope it will be a good step toward meeting the needs readers expressed — more than a few times — this week.
