Published - Saturday, September 06, 2008 MedLink golf outing serves as memorial to UW Hospital Med Flight victims BARRE MILLS — Friday’s annual golf outing for the employees of Gundersen Lutheran’s emergency medical helicopter, MedLink Air, was also a memorial to UW Hospital’s Med Flight team whose members died when their helicopter crashed May 10 near La Crosse. “This was to let Med Flight and the Med Flight team’s families know that we are here and are supporting them in their time of loss,” said Julie Gollnick, flight nurse at MedLink Air. Gollnick coordinated the event, which included a memorial video presentation and the presentation of a bench with the names of those who died in the crash. About 100 to 120 people participated in the outing at Fox Hollow Golf Course, including doctors, nurses, paramedics and pilots from Med Flight in Madison, Gollnick said. The crash killed a doctor, nurse and pilot while they were on a return flight to UW Hospital after taking a patient from Prairie du Chien to Gundersen Lutheran.
