Appleton man convicted of hanging dog in garage

.
APPLETON, Wis. — A man accused of hanging his dog from its choke chain has been convicted of felony mistreatment of animals.

Thirty-five-year-old Eric Shattuck of Appleton pleaded no contest Thursday in Outagamie County Circuit Court.
The criminal complaint says Shattuck told a visitor on Sept. 26 he hung the dog after it refused to drink a fatal dose of antifreeze. The woman reported that the dog was still hanging in Shattuck's garage the next day. Police found the animal's body in a garbage bag in the garage.

Shattuck told the woman he killed the dog because he didn't want it anymore.

He faces up to 3 1/2 years of prison and extended supervision when he is sentenced Nov. 6.

" amish aside--that could be a whole other article. now this guy-35 yrs old and he doesn't know how to contact a humane society or city pound-how about listing the dog in the paper to give away? what kind of sick person is this? along with a less than likely prison sentence, his right to own any kind of animal should be taken away. he will probably get probation-if he gets caught with a pet, revoke probation. unlikely that would happen though. " The amish need to be investigated. I bought a puppy through a third party that sells these pups malnorished, underweight, interbred and not old enough to leave the litter. This is a big business for the third party and the amish. I was lucky my pup lived. I sure wish Peta would look into this.... Somebody has to.
In our world we call them puppy mills... What does the amish call this? "

" maybe the amish classify dogs as (sorry I threw up) as meat and thats why they get away with killing them and not abidding by our laws. "

" How about we ask this moron to slam a glass of antifreeze or we'll hang him from a tree. "
