NFL 2008: Players to watch
By Dave Myers | dmayers@lacrossetribune.com
.
Aaron Rodgers, QB, Green Bay
With all of the Packers’ weapons on offense, it’s as if he has been handed the keys to a shiny new sports car. If he is ready, he could be in for quite a ride.
Jay Cutler, QB, Denver
Continues to leave his more ballyhooed colleagues Matt Leinart and Vince Young in his dust. Has regained the 30-plus pounds he lost last year due to his undiagnosed diabetes. Now his play will leave opponents feeling sick.
Calvin Johnson, WR, Detroit
At 6-5 and 235 pounds with speed to burn Johnson is a matchup nightmare. The fact Roy Williams is on the other side of the formation won’t make it easier to cover Johnson.
Santonio Holmes, WR, Pittsburgh
Surpasses Hines Ward as most dangerous receiver in Rothlesberger’s arsenal.
Bernard Berrian, WR,
Minnesota With defenses playing eight and nine men in the box trying stop Adrian Peterson, Berrian will see a lot of one-on-one coverage. That should lead to a lot of big plays.
Darrell Revis, CB, New York Jets
Favre’s arrival means more people will be watching the Jets, which means more people will discover that this second-year corner has superstar written all over him.
