Alan Bushey faces one felony count of being a party to hiding a corpse, two felony counts of being party to causing mental harm to a child and two misdemeanor counts of being party to theft.
According to court records, Bushey stood mute before Juneau County Circuit Judge John Roemer. The judge entered the pleas on his behalf.
Prosecutors said Bushey and his follower, Tammy Lewis, kept 90-year-old Magdeline Alvina Middlesworth’s dead body on Lewis’ toilet. Middlesworth was another member of their group. A criminal complaint states Bushey told Lewis that God would revive Middlesworth.
Investigators believe they both wanted to collect Middlesworth’s Social Security.
