The state’s www.JobCenterofWisconsin.com Web site started operation a week ago and replaced the state’s JobNet system, which was created in 1993.
“This technology is available anywhere there’s a computer,” Gassman told reporters. The Web site can be used 24 hours a day, seven days a week, she said.
Job seekers can search job openings by position, salary, location and other key words. They also can create an online resume and e-mail it to employers. They can keep their resume confidential or make it available for search by employers.
Job seekers also can find a list of job fairs and other employment and training events in their area. And a toll-free help number connects callers with staff members who can provide assistance and information about employment and training.
Employers can post job openings and can search for skilled employees through key search terms.
A second round of upgrades will be added in December, including workshop sign-ups; wage, job trend and career information; and simplified methods for employers to save job postings. Users also will be able to view short demonstration videos that describe various careers.
