La Crosse airport to design improvements

.
The La Crosse Municipal Airport soon will undergo a $379,000 engineering design study to correct seating and restroom shortages still lingering from security changes imposed after Sept. 11, 2001.

Gov. Jim Doyle’s office announced this week it approved the project, releasing $9,500 in state funds to be combined with $9,500 in local dollars and $361,000 from the Federal Aviation Administra-tion.
“It’s money well spent,” airport Manager Dan Wruck said Tuesday. “I think it’s key that we make sure we’re going to meet the needs of the public, not only today but in the (future).”

Much of passenger seating and restroom space was lost after 9/11 prompted security changes that relocated screening checkpoints to the first floor holding area.

The airport now has no restrooms past the security screening area, so passengers have to go through security each time they use the facilities.

“It creates sort of a logistical problem,” Wruck said. “That’s one of the things we need to solve with this.”

The availability of funding will dictate the scale of the project, he said, noting the actual construction costs won’t be defined until after the engineering study.

“We need to get those restrooms in, at a minimum,” Wruck said.

" It is a joke how much this study will cost, lets send some engineering college students in to do STUDY for school project and real engineers can review it then. The bathrooms are needed past security gate, but isn't there other possibilities to problem that don't cost this much. Most airports have this already done and paid for by tax dollars, isn't it time La Crosse get a few crumbs off the tax table, rather than send our tax dollars to other airports. "

" you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still pork!! government spending money on something not needed, especially a 'study', is pork. the question is, which project smells more like fresh bacon, the 'study' at the airport, or the 'fence to nowhere' along hwy 53? both are still dripping with fat. " ALL the 9-23 Articles, and the debate that went with them GONE FOR EVER.

My bet is the stories will be back up later today, as BS pointed out WITHOUT THE DEBATE.

The Tribune Editors (LEE Enterprises) do this when they get too much debate on the wrong stories, or the wrong kind of debate. They will claim it was some sort of error, but it is really CENSORSHIP, as they (Tribune) MUST control the thought process and/or the information.

Free exchange of ideas is DEAD in this town because it is controlled by a media monopoly.

God forbid somebody might read the blog and actually LEARN something. "

" Regarding: "The availability of funding will dictate the scale of the project"

Okay, then, since there are no funds available during an economic collapse and a whopping state budget deficit, the scale of the project can safely be contained within these brackets: []

Glad I could get this matter solved for all y'all! "
