Police searching for Augsburg student's killer

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minneapolis police are trying to overcome language barriers and distrust as they try to determine who killed an Augsburg College student.

Twenty-year-old Ahmed Nur Ali, a Somali-American and third-year political science major, was shot Monday evening outside the Brian Coyle Community Center in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood, the heart of the Minneapolis Somali community.

Ali had just started volunteering at the center as a tutor to young children.

Police say several people saw the shooting happen, but that it's been difficult to get anyone to talk about it. Police had not made any arrests by Tuesday.
