" I don't know the owner of that dog but I don't need to know her to be able to figure out that she is lazy. Lazy in terms of a dog owner. It's every dog owners responsibility to get dogs acclimated to humans and to ensure that they are not aggressive. That is the major cause of any dog bite in my opinion. I do agree that the more "powerful" breeds such as rotweilers and pitbulls need extra work, but they can still be made into loving pets. The bottom line is that this lady is a terrible and lazy pet owner and has not shown the ability to be responsible and raise dogs correctly. "

" re truth- The dogs that fataly attacked Diane Whipple out in California were not pit bulls. They were Presa Canarios. Please read the articles before making uninformed statements. The two cases are very different and thus not right to compare. In this case Catherine Bolling got off way too easy (in my opinion) considering the previous attacks (bites) from other dogs in her care. There needs to be stricter laws governing dog ownership of all breeds.

" I'm with you truth. Big spender, you hit that one right on. I know you were trying to be a cute with it but, you hear people basically say that word for word. The California ruling is right on. If the dog kills, the owner gets 40 to life. If the dog maims, the owner gets 10 to 20. Then see how long they keep "Spot" running around in a "thin wired" fence. "

" Some lady just got like 40-life out in California because her pit bull attacked and killed somebody. This pitbull attacked and if never stopped very well could have killed one of these men. And she gets a $159 fine. That is not enough. It is a form of assualt, and she is responsible for it. Take away any other dogs and never allow her to have them again and she should be sued for neglect. Hate to be harsh, but it is like having possession of an assualt rifle and waving it around...just dangerous and irresponsible. "

As far as the Centurytel workers sueing her, you can't get blood out of a turnip. "

" You all must remember that the city has laws and the woman in question was given the appropriate punishment according to the law. (not enough in my OPINION though) She did not try to fight it but plead no contest to her punishment. It is now upon the century tel workers who were viciously attacked to seek further damages through the court system. "

" Pit bull attacks accurately reflect their breeding over centuries: to be an aggressive fighting dog that is vicious and tenacious with a powerful bite that can inflict maximum damage when it attacks. The basic nature of all dogs is reflected in their breeding whether it is a beagle, poodle, collie, or pit bull.
With proper training a dog's bred nature may be kept in check. Anyone who knows the history of pit bulls and chooses to own one without giving it the proper training and control is criminally irresponsible and flat out stupid. "

" Am I correct in remembering that this woman had a previous dog attack?
I wonder if more "social" punishment would work better than fines and jail time for cases like this, for drunk driving, vandalism, etc.
I really believe that most "very compassionate and caring" people are more afraid of the personal and professional repercussions than fines. Find me one article where a friend or family member hasn't said that some illegal behavior wasn't "out of character" or "misunderstood."
We need to stop sticking up for losers and criminals, because they will likely keep it up if surrounded by enablers. "
