WHAT: Warrens Cranberry Festival is held annually during the last full weekend in September. This year’s event started Friday and ends Sunday.
Location: The streets of Warrens, Wis.
Hours: The 850-booth art and craft show and 350-booth antique and flea market are open from
7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Cost: There is no expense to browse, and much of the entertainment is free, but parking will set you back $5.
Lesson learned: Cranfest marsh tours and cranberry videos are available from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today at the Warrens Municipal Building.
Fill your stomach: At the pancake breakfast with cranberry syrup. It’s served at 7 a.m. daily on Railroad Street by the Warrens post office and from 6:30 to 11 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church at the corner of Pine and May streets. Still Hungry? Try something from one of more than 80 food booths, including cream puffs, pork sandwiches, cheese curds, almonds, mini donuts, turkey legs, pizza and more.
Don’t Miss: The gigantic parade. It starts at noon Sunday.
Wet your whistle: With brewed iced tea for $2 or a homemade lemonade for $3.50.
Celebrate cranberries: With cranberry salsa, vinegar, tea, mustard, sausage and berry bites.
Don’t forget: To wear a silly hat. Many shoppers have them on to keep track of their party.
What to wear: Sneakers. Good walking shoes are a must because you’ll be walking. A lot.
Who is there: Kim Arentz, 26, of Coon Valley makes an annual trip to the festival with her sister. They start with breakfast and make their way to Warrens. By early Friday afternoon, they’d already found a few items for their homes and were working through the rest of the booths.
