VIOLA — Marvel Ambrose, 93, of Viola died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center,

La Crosse. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Viola United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Viola Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church. Gerald ‘Red’ Dobson

GAYS MILLS — Gerald “Red” Dobson, 84, of Gays Mills died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at Lakeview Health Center, West Salem. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Dommersnaes-Bertram Family Funeral Home, Gays Mills. Burial, with military rites, will be in Gays Mills Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.

Aymaar A. Nelson

HARLINGEN, Texas/SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — Aymaar A. Nelson, 75, formerly of Sun Prairie and Arcadia, lost his battle with cancer Friday, Sept. 19, 2008.

Aymaar was born Jan. 12, 1933, in Arcadia to Veronica (Schneider) and Aymaar Nelson. He married Agnes Rebhahn on Nov. 28, 1953, in Arcadia. She passed away in 1989. He married Nilah Arnold-Bahr on Dec. 18, 1990, in Sun Prairie.

Aymaar retired in 1979 after 27 years of service from the United States Air Force, with the rank of chief master sergeant, and then retired in 1992 from the United States Post Office after 11 years.

He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and past grand knight. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and a golfer. He enjoyed woodworking. He was captain of his high school football team, which during his senior year was undefeated and not scored upon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Agnes; his brother, Gaylord; his grandson, Christopher; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.

Aymaar is survived by his wife, Nilah Nelson; children, Joseph (Denise) Nelson of Paducah, Ky., Kathleen (Brian) Burr of Onalaska, Eric Nelson of Madison and Carla (Gary) Happel of Madison; stepchildren, Rose Mulqueen (Tom Welch) of Eagle, Wis., Robert (Dawn) Devlin of Milwaukee, Rita Krueger of Oak Creek, Wis., Ruth Fischer (Mike Sellars) of Franklin, Wis., and Ramona (Pedro) Aponte of Spring, Texas; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Mrs. Shirleigh Onsrud of Minneapolis and Harlingen; his brother, Pat (Florence) Nelson of Arcadia; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Amanda Nelson of Brookfield, Wis., and Mrs. Therese Smith of Onalaska; and brothers-in-law, Gerald Arnold of Wauwautosa, Wis., Harvey (Marge) Arnold of Brookfield, and Ross (Gloria) Arnold of West Allis, Wis.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St., Sun Prairie, with Monsignor Terrence Connors presiding. A private burial will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1509 New Combes Hwy., Harlingen, TX 78550, or Sunshine Haven, P.O. Box 4478, Brownsville, TX 78523. A memorial Mass was held in Harlingen on Sept. 23, 2008.

Jennie Olga Nelson

Jennie Olga Nelson, 88, of La Crosse died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at her home surrounded by her family.

Jennie was born Jan. 8, 1920, in Purcell Township in Mountrail County, N.D., to Gilbert and Bergit (Fugeland) Gilbertson. She married Raymond Nelson in Stanley, N.D. They moved to Osseo, Wis., where they farmed. They then moved to La Crosse, where she worked at the South Avenue Cafeteria from 1970 until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her sister, Bertina Thorvig of Stanley; sister-in-law, Ruth Gilbertson of Glasgow, Mont.; daughter, Joan Nimmo of La Crosse; sons, Richard and Roger (Tina), both of La Crosse; two grandchildren, Rhonda (Brian) Olson of Galesville and Scott (Melanie) Nimmo of La Crosse; six great-grandchildren, Jeri (Mitch), Amber (Steve), Dylan, Tanya, Alex and Haley; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Cody and Dalton; two great-great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Damien; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; her parents; two sons, Darvin and Steven; a grandson, Forrest Nimmo; two brothers, Olaf Gilbertson of Glasgow, Mont., and Bennie Gilbertson of Minot, N.D.; and two sisters, Gina Johnson of Stanley and Martha Rogstad of Helena, Mont.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1010 Sill St., La Crosse. The Rev. Stephan Sandness will officiate, with burial at North Branch Cemetery, Osseo. A visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. the day of the service at the church. Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home-Nelson Chapel is assisting the family.

Sally (Hyde) Pearse

Sally (Hyde) Pearse, 83, of La Crosse died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical, La Crosse. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, La Crosse. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church. A complete obituary will follow. Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, La Crosse, is assisting the family.

Lester L. Richer

BLAIR — Lester L. Richer, 88, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at Tri-County Memorial Hospital, Whitehall. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Zwickey Funeral Homes Galesville chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Centerville, Wis. Friends may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
