Sex offender to be released

.
A convicted sex offender will be released next week into a group home for sexual offenders, La Crosse police said.

Jason A. Grassman, 28, will reside at the Attic Correctional Services facility, 809 Rose St., when he is released from prison Tuesday, according to police.
Grassman received a 12-year prison term in 1999 for second-degree sexual assault of a 14-year-old female, according to court records.

Police report Grassman, a registered sex offender, will be on electronic monitoring as part of his extended supervision.

He is allowed no unsupervised contact with minors, no contact with the victim, no alcohol or drugs, can’t be in a bar or tavern and must have regular, face-to-face contact with law enforcement.

Police stress Grassman is not wanted at this time and the announcement is meant to inform the public, not to create fear.

" Councilman Richmond is having a meeting for the 1st and 2nd District this month. I beleive it is at Roosevelt, and it is around the 22nd. Of course it is informal, and of course there will be NEAR 200 PEOPLE THERE!!!!!!
The City, County, and the School System only wish they could draw that many residents. Nobody goes to there meetings really. Why? Because they do not trust what they say anyway, so why go? It is as bad as going to the one and only 'to-date' City Ambulance Business public hearing. Listening to Johnsrud, and the Chief's numbers he gathered without professional help or Pfaff's Department????? "

" Sorry, that would be 'section eight' housing. "

" Let me guess, let me guess, Please let me guess! The Northside! Where section housing is, where WI Sexual Registry Internet dots almost make the Northside totally red, where they do not deserve a Councilman, where the City told Councilman Richmond it will be over a year to formalize meeting that are informally meeting with historically hundreds of people, and where another criminal group home was allowed to pass the more 'affluent' Cameron area for......., you guessed it, the NORTHSIDE!!!! " Big Spender,
I agree that most sex offenses should be one strike and you are out. But what about an 18 year old senior that gets charged with 3rd degree rape for having a 15 year old girlfriend? Do I agree with their actions? No. Do I think he should sit in prison for the rest of his life? Absolutely not. "

" Attic Correctional Services facility, 809 Rose St., is a block from the former Jefferson school, now a Montesorri...local officials are VERY quiet about that (I've written them about this without response). Attic is also near Copeland Park (filled with kids) and it's in a neighborhood filled with kids. Johnsrud, Doyle, Kapanke, Schilling, Council, School Board, Tribune Editorial Staff, etc. ARE YOU LISTENING??? If not, resign now to clear the way for people who can!

'One strike and you are out' for all sex offenders, period! No exceptions! "

I agree with you. I was surprised as well when I learned several years ago that the ATTIC is near a school. Who's genius idea was that? "

" wangchung, Australia is way to nice for people like this. I never knew, and now am shocked, that the ATTIC is a group home for these predators. There is a school right across the freakin street! "
