Winona lined up for another sweep in bowling challenge

WINONA, Minn. — The Winona women are in position to stretch their winning streak to three years in the Winona/La Crosse Bowling Challenge.
After the Winona half of the two-day challenge at Westgate Bowl, Winona is leading La Crosse 93-57 thanks to a huge day from Keri Prigge.

Prigge rolled a 784 (280-225-279) series in getting a singles victory.

She teammed up with Laurie Wiseman in alternate-shot doubles and picked up a 659 victory, as well.

“She was just in the groove,” teammate Krystal Dorman said of Prigge. “We were hooting and hollering for her. It was very exciting.”

Dorman wasn’t too shabby herself, throwing a 690 series — the second-best women’s score on the day.

And Winona felt comfortable on their home turf taking a big lead into the second and final day.

“It’s good to be ahead by as many as we are, because La Crosse will be a little tougher,” Dorman said.

At Winona Bowl, the Winona men picked up where they left off last year, leading 90-60 after the first day. Geoff Schewe led the way for Winona in singles, rolling a 749 (243-259-247).

For La Crosse, Jason Culbert had the high score of the day with a 751

(224-248-279) and Norm Oldenburg had a 711 (215-257-239).

The challenge concludes today in La Crosse. The men begin at 10:30 a.m. at

All-Star Lanes, while the women play at 2:30 p.m. at Pla-Mor Lanes.
