There is more to driving than the mechanics of operating a car.
How many adults do you see on a cell phone, smoking, eating and drinking while driving with one hand?
How many adults driving private or company vehicles follow the speed limit? Can’t they read? Twenty-five miles per hour means 25 mph. All cars have a speedometer. Read it.
When was a law passed where it’s legal to pass on the right side of a vehicle? Never! Yet adults do it all the time.
In Onalaska where there is a bicycle lane on both sides of the road, adults pass on the right, going over the speed limit, without ever knowing if there is a cyclist in that lane.
What happens when a corner is marked for pedestrian crossing, where school children and families must cross the road? Doesn’t this mean adults should slow down and use caution?
Did the laws change about Wisconsin pedestrians having a right of way?
Perhaps when adults get their license renewed, they should receive a reminder of the basic rules of driving.
How can young drivers learn to be safe drivers if there is no good example or knowledgeable adult to teach them?
