The driver of one vehicle, Powell Littlejohn, 16, of La Crosse, was in critical condition Sunday at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. The driver of the second vehicle, David Tallman, 43, of Sun Prairie, Wis., was in fair condition at Gundersen Lutheran.
Gregory Manninger, 18, of La Crosse, a passenger in the Littlejohn vehicle, was in good condition at Gundersen Lutheran. Littlejohn and Manninger were extricated from the vehicle after authorities used Jaws of Life.
According to the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department, a westbound vehicle driven by Littlejohn was passing in a no-passing zone and struck an eastbound vehicle head-on at 12:25 a.m. The sheriff’s department did not release any further information.
Besides the sheriff’s department and Tri-State Ambulance, Shelby First Responders and Fire Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the accident.
