Coroner John Stanley says 66-year-old Salvador Tellez-Giron died from self-inflicted hanging and his wife, 33-year-old Viviana Tellez-Giron, died from multiple blunt force injuries.
Stanley said Monday their deaths were the result of domestic violence.
Centro Hispano executive director Peter Munoz says Salvador Tellez-Giron was active in Madison's Latino community and the deaths are a tragedy.
United Migrant Opportunity Services in Milwaukee honored Salvador Tellez-Giron, his ex-wife, Yolanda Salazar, and their adult children in 2005 for their work in the Latino community.
Court records show Salvador Tellez-Giron and Salazar divorced in 2000.
