Starting Monday, voters can cast absentee ballots in person at municipal clerks offices.
Clerks also are expected to start mailing absentee ballots to voters who have requested them.
About 12 percent of voters cast absentee ballots in the 2004 presidential election, and Wisconsin elections officials are expecting a slight increase this year.
Some clerks say they are adding staff to handle an influx of early voters expected because of the high interest in the presidential race.
Wisconsin has no-fault absentee voting, which means anyone who wants to vote absentee instead of at the polls can do so.
