Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 732nd Combat Support Sustainment Battalion, which is comprised of about 75 soldiers, is ordered to active duty beginning in May 2009.
The 732nd's mission is expected to be in Iraq, where the unit will provide command and control of logistics operations in its assigned areas.
The unit had been on alert since late January. Notification to unit soldiers of the mobilization order began Friday and continued through the weekend.
Soldiers assigned to the 732nd Combat Support Sustainment Battalion headquarters will report for active duty at the Tomah armory on May 7, 2009. The unit will train in Indiana for several months before deploying overseas. The mobilization, including time scheduled for additional training in Indiana, is expected to last about one year. The soldiers will spend about 10 months of the year-long mobilization in Iraq.
The 732nd Combat Support Sustainment Battalion is headquartered in Tomah.
Only the battalion headquarters will be ordered to active duty under this mobilization order, which does not include the battalion's subordinate units: the 107th Maintenance Company in Sparta and Viroqua, the 1157th Transportation Company in Oshkosh, and the 1158th Transportation Company from Beloit and Black River Falls.
One of the battalion's units, the 1158th Transportation Company, received a mobilization order in September to be part of the 32nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team mobilization that will begin in February 2009.
