Tomah National Guard unit ordered to active duty

.
A Tomah-based unit of the Wisconsin Army National Guard received a mobilization order on Oct. 3.

Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 732nd Combat Support Sustainment Battalion, which is comprised of about 75 soldiers, is ordered to active duty beginning in May 2009.
The 732nd's mission is expected to be in Iraq, where the unit will provide command and control of logistics operations in its assigned areas.

The unit had been on alert since late January. Notification to unit soldiers of the mobilization order began Friday and continued through the weekend.

Soldiers assigned to the 732nd Combat Support Sustainment Battalion headquarters will report for active duty at the Tomah armory on May 7, 2009. The unit will train in Indiana for several months before deploying overseas. The mobilization, including time scheduled for additional training in Indiana, is expected to last about one year. The soldiers will spend about 10 months of the year-long mobilization in Iraq.

The 732nd Combat Support Sustainment Battalion is headquartered in Tomah.

Only the battalion headquarters will be ordered to active duty under this mobilization order, which does not include the battalion's subordinate units: the 107th Maintenance Company in Sparta and Viroqua, the 1157th Transportation Company in Oshkosh, and the 1158th Transportation Company from Beloit and Black River Falls.

One of the battalion's units, the 1158th Transportation Company, received a mobilization order in September to be part of the 32nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team mobilization that will begin in February 2009.

" I used to be in this unit in 2000-2002. I thank God that I was in between the wars, but I support those guys! GO 732nd!!! "

" Don't listen to those who post on here who don't appreciate you. Your Family and friends support you and believe 100% in what you are doing. We know the good you are doing, unlike the uninformed who only know what CNN tells them. They forget since 9/11 there has been no terrorist attack on America's soil. If you want to know the TRUTH about Iraq, talk to someone who has been there. "

" It's simple: Don't go. I hate to sound brusque, but one way or another that's what it boils down to. You've been lied to and misused, you will not be doing any service to your country, so don't go. "

" Rickey/Grant, The 732nd has never been called up for flood duty, the last time this unit was mobilized was during the first gulf war, I'm sure you would remember but it was before you were born. "

" With all the Floods in this country , What are They doing over there? Isn't the National Guard for our nation and Army for overseas Conflicts? "
